Picking the Right Crops in FarmVille

When you're playing FarmVille, it's fun to experiment with different crops and planting patterns. And since you'll always be selling crops for more than you paid for the seeds, you'll always be making money. You won't always be making a lot, though. The crops that sell for a lot can often cost a lot as well. If you're not careful about what you plant, you won't be able to save up for those other decorations and buildings you've been looking forward to buying. There are several different factors that contribute to the profitability and desirability of a particular crop, and it's a good idea to keep these in mind when you're making your planting decisions.

Investment Return

One important element to take into consideration when deciding what type of crops to plant is how much of a difference there is between the seed price and the price your harvest will fetch at the market. Some crops, like soybeans, will get you back more than 4 times your initial investment, while others will return less than 2. It's obviously more advantageous to get the most back when you can, but there are other factors to consider as well.

Earnings Per Hour

Since different types of crops take different amounts of time to grow, they'll be earning you different amounts of coins per hour. If you wan to get the most out of your plowed land, you'll want to make sure you're planting the crops that will earn you the most each hour.

It's nice to harvest a crop like artichokes, which sell for over 200 coins per plot of cultivated land. But it takes 4 days for these plants to mature, so your earnings per hour is not very high. Raspberries, on the other hand, will get you over 40 coins every 2 hours. This will give you a handsome benefit with a quick turnaround time, and the opportunity to replant and make more money quickly.

Timing

Of course, planting a crop like raspberries won't make you much money if you can't get back to your farm in time to harvest them. Since these plants mature so quickly, they also wither quickly, and you'll only lose money if you plant them and then don't check on your farm for a day. While the earning potential and investment return of crops is always important, it's also important to make sure your farm's planting and harvesting needs are adaptable to your schedule.

Crops in FarmVille wither at the same rate that they mature. This means that a crop like raspberries that matures in 2 hours will wither 2 hours after that. Something like artichokes, on the other hand, will not wither for 8 days from the time you plant them.

Deciding which crops to plant doesn't have to be an overly complicated decision. It's good to put some thought into it, though, if you want your farm to prosper and grow. You'll have a much more enjoyable farming experience if you make informed and reasonable decisions about which crops to plant when.

How to Rack Up the Ribbons in FarmVille

When you first start developing your farm in FarmVille, it's easy to overlook the ribbons. You'll earn a few incidentally as you plant and harvest your crops, and they give some nice bonuses, but most people don't focus too much on these achievements. You'll be doing yourself a big favor, though, if you do take a closer look at the various ribbons available and what you need to do to earn them. Often it won't take much of an adjustment to your game plan to get some ribbons under your belt and they give you a great advantage as you advance through the game.

Why You Want Ribbons

You won't be able to focus on earning ribbons if you don't know what the criteria are for doing so. You can easily locate this information, though, by clicking on the ribbon icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Once you take a quick look at the different types of ribbons available and what you have to do to get them, you'll see why it's easy and worthwhile to focus on earning ribbons.

Basically, any of the tasks you complete in the game will eventually earn you a ribbon. You can accelerate the process, though, if you know what to focus on. For example, say you're unsure about whether to buy another cow or branch out into shepherding.

Knowing that you can earn a ribbon for collecting goods from different types of animals might make your decision a little easier. It costs you a few hundred coins more to buy the sheep initially, but you'll likely wind up with a bonus in the thousands once you achieve the ribbon. That's a pretty good return on your investment.

Getting the Most

Acquiring as many neighbors as you can is the best thing to focus on first when you're trying to earn ribbons. On top of the fact that you can earn the Local Celebrity ribbon just by having a certain number of neighbors, they can help you earn quite a few other ribbons too.

You can earn the Good Samaritan ribbon by helping out on your neighbors' farms. Because you can only help each neighbor once a day, though, you'll earn this ribbon faster the more neighbors you have. Having a lot of neighbors will also make it much easier to master categories like the Not Spoiled, Gifted! Ribbon. You earn these ribbons by receiving a certain number of unique gifts, and the more neighbors you have, the more gifts you'll get.

It's Worth Your Time

It really isn't hard to rack up some ribbons quickly, but it can do you a lot of good in FarmVille. All it takes is a little bit of time and focus, and you'll be well on your way towards earning some great bonuses in the form of both coins and experience points. This will give you a great boost when it comes to advancing to higher levels, as well as the cash to buy the new items you unlock when you do. The crops as the higher levels will also allow you to earn more coins more quickly, giving you even more cash to invest back into your farm.

How to Get the Most Neighbors in FarmVille

If you're just getting started in FarmVille, you might not think it's all that important to have a lot of neighbors. After all, you're not fighting other players like you would in Mafia Wars. You don't have to defend your farm from attack. You just have to keep plowing, planting, and harvesting, and watch the coins collect in the bank.

While this is certainly a perfectly acceptable way to play the game, it's not the easiest or the most productive. Adding neighbors can give you all kinds of benefits that will allow you to advance to the next levels more quickly and accumulate more animals, trees, and decorations for your farm. Having a lot of neighbors will also make it much easier and cheaper for you to expand your farm when you're ready to do that. But how do you get all these neighbors?

Hit Up Your Friends

The first place to go looking for neighbors is your friend list. It's actually quite likely that some of the people you know have already started farming themselves, and the game makes it easy for you to find them. If you click on the My Neighbors tab, you'll bring up a list of the people on your friend list who are already playing FarmVille. All you have to do is click on the box to add them as your neighbor.

While this is a good place to start, there's no reason to be satisfied with this number of neighbors. Clicking on the next tab over, Invite Friends, you can quickly send invitations to everyone on your friend list to come and play FarmVille with you. Of course, not all of the people you invite will take you up on it, but you should get at least a few more neighbors out of this. Be sure to invite everyone though. There's nothing to lose, and you never know which of your friends is secretly a farmer at heart.

Beyond Your Friend List

Depending on how large your friend list is and how many positive responses you get, you may not need to look elsewhere for more neighbors. If you do want to try and find more, though, a great place to find some new neighbors (and friends) are the FarmVille Forums. Here you'll be able to chat with and add a bunch of people as neighbors who enjoy playing the game and are looking for new ways to expand their opportunities.

You do have to be careful when adding players from these forums though. Most of them are legitimate profiles of regular FarmVille players like you, but there are some fraudulent profiles out there. You'll know you added a fake profile if you start getting nonsensical messages in your inbox, so be careful not to add too many people you don't know at once. That way, you'll be able to tell which profile to delete if you encounter a problem.

Adding neighbors and expanding your farm is just one of the many enjoyable aspects of FarmVille. And it doesn't just give you more options for game play. It also gives you new ways to interact with old friends and a good venue to add new ones, and that may be the most rewarding bonus of all.

Fateful FarmVille Pitfalls to Avoid

Getting the hang of life in FarmVille isn't all that complicated. You harvest crops, plant new ones, and buy various items and buildings at the market to pretty up your patch of land. Making progress in FarmVille isn't all that hard, but there are some definite pitfalls you should try to avoid as you move forward. Who knew there was so much strategy involved in farming?

Plowing to Plant

Of course, to make as much money as you can off of your farm, you want to clear a significant amount of land for crops. This is definitely the way to go, but you do have to be smart about it. It costs money to plow land as well as to buy the seeds to plant on it. If you use up all your money plowing extra land, you won't be able to plant on it. If you can't plant crops, you won't be able to make more money.

That's why it's important to make sure you can make use of all your available land before you start clearing more. If you plant on all of the plowed plots of land you already have first, you'll have a much better idea of how many more you'll be able to afford to clear and plant on this time around. That way, you'll get the most out of all of your available plots of land and be able to clear even more when it comes time for your next harvest.

Time Your Harvests

It can be very tempting to plant a particular type of crop that offers a good return on your investment. You won't get that return, though, if you can't get back in time to harvest your crops before they wither. When you're deciding what and when to plant, you have to take your own schedule into consideration so that you can be sure you'll be able to get back to your farm in an appropriate amount of time.

Crops mature at different rates, and they also wither at different rates. For example, a crop that takes 4 hours to mature will wither after 8 hours. A crop that takes 2 days to mature, however, will not wither for 4 days. If you think you won't be able to get back to your farm before a certain kind of crop withers, you shouldn't plant it. This can be hard because the benefits of some short-term crops can be tempting. But just remember, if your crops wither before you can harvest them, you don't get anything out of that harvest at all.

It's natural to want to advance quickly and make more money, but you have to be realistic about how much time you have to devote to your farm. Getting overambitious will usually backfire on you. If you plan you harvesting cycles right and make sure to only clear as much land as you can make use of at any given time, though, you'll be well on your way to success in FarmVille.

3 Keys to FarmVille Success

FarmVille is not an overly complicated game, but there is definitely more to it than you might initially expect. Especially if you've just started working on your farm, you may not be aware of some of the strategies involved in moving up quickly and building up your coin reserves. Of course, you can have fun just planting and harvesting on your own. Once you get the hang of the basic stuff though, you'll likely want to expand your horizons a bit. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when you're trying to move up quickly and establish yourself as an experienced farmer in FarmVille.

Get a Lot of Neighbors

There are quite a few reasons that having a bunch of neighbors can be beneficial to you when you're playing FarmVille. Probably the most obvious one is that you'll need to have a certain number of neighbors to expand your farm when you're ready to do that. But you can also get a lot of other bonuses from your neighbors and from having certain numbers of them.

Helping out on your neighbors' farms is a great way to build up experience points and earn some extra cash. For the first 20 neighbors you help out every day, you earn 20 coins and 5 experience points, but you can only help each neighbor once a day. The more neighbors you have, then, the more you'll be able to take advantage of these types of bonuses. You'll also earn ribbons for helping your neighbors and for having a lot of them, which bring in some nice bonuses of their own.

Go For the Ribbons

As you complete your cycles of planting and harvesting, you'll naturally wind up winning some ribbons without even thinking about it. You may notice, though, that winning these ribbons brings you some hefty bonuses in terms of experience points and coins. That's why it's a good idea to put some effort into winning as many ribbons as you can. This doesn't really take much work, and you'll have a much easier time moving up in the game and building up your coin stores.

Build, Build, Build

There are a lot of options in terms of the discretionary items you can buy from the market to pretty up your farm. Not all of them are created equal, though. Particularly when you get to some of the higher levels, it becomes harder and harder to advance because of the large amounts of experience points needed to do this. You can get big chunks of experience points, though, by putting up buildings on your property. This is the best way to get your experience boosted in a hurry.

Really, the point of FarmVille is to have fun. It can get frustrating, though, if you don't take a little bit of strategy into consideration when you're making decisions about your farm. If you run out of coins, there's not much you can do in the game. It's best, then, to take a little time to focus on a few key areas of the game so that your overall experience is enhanced in the long run.

Are You Lost in FarmVille?

If you're having trouble getting a hang of the way of things in FarmVille, you're not alone. I know of quite a few people who got into the game expecting it to be easy as pie and were quickly frustrated. In fact, I was one of them. So I went looking for a guide to help me master the farming life.

I actually tried quite a few of these guides, but not many of them had much helpful information to give. They were either designed for people who'd gotten all the way to the upper levels already, or they were severely outdated because of additions made to the game since they were released. FarmVille is a relatively new game and is still in the Beta stage, so a lot of improvements have been made to it in a short time and many of the guides on the market have not been updated to account for these changes.

So I finally broke down and bought FarmVille Secrets. This guide has been released pretty recently, so it's up to date on all of the latest advances in the game. I found it to be immensely helpful to me, and I was quickly raking in the coins and moving up in levels like you wouldn't believe.

In addition to the helpful tips, FarmVille Secrets also includes some handy charts and other resources that help you to compare items available in the Market and also helps you to plan out your spending and improvement strategies. I think you'll be as pleasantly surprised as I was when you read this guide and put the tips in it to use on your farm. I started to see results overnight almost. It's definitely a guide worth checking out if you're having trouble getting the hang of FarmVille, or if you just want to give your game an extra boost. Either way, you'll be happy you tried it.

Is Buying a FarmVille Guide Worth It?

I have to admit, I was pretty skeptical when I first started seeing FarmVille guides popping up. I mean, I'd never really played the game, but from the name I assumed there couldn't be all that much to it. After all, how much strategy could possibly go into building a virtual farm? But once I started seeing these guides, I figured it'd be worth taking a shot at the game to see what all the hubbub could possibly be about.

And I was actually rather surprised. Building my own virtual farm was much more enjoyable than I'd imagined it would be. Part of that was because there really were a lot of options and a lot of decisions to make. The more I played the game, the more I realized that there probably could be a lot of helpful information in a guide because there were just too many ways you could play.

I was doing alright on my own, but I was getting more and more curious about what I might be missing out on. After I reached level 13 and was having a hard time getting farther, I decided to give one of the guides a shot. I bought FarmVille Secrets, a relatively new guide and pretty up to date on the latest additions to the game. I really wasn't expecting too much, but this guide just blew me away.

In no time, I was the Cream of the Crop, a level 24 farmer with a Big Family Farm and tons of neighbors to visit. Using the tips in this guide helped me way more than I thought they would – even when I read them. There's a lot more to this farming stuff than meets the eye. I'd recommend picking up a copy of FarmVille Secrets if you're interested in getting the most out of your FarmVille experience.

Do You Really Need a Guide For FarmVille?

I consider myself to be relatively well educated in the latest generation of social networking site games like Mafia Wars, Vampire Wars, and such. That's why when I started to see these FarmVille guides popping up all over the place I was kind of surprised. I mean, I can see why people might need some tips to get going in games like Mafia Wars, but FarmVille?

At this point though I hadn't actually played the game, but I didn't really think it could be all that complicated. I figured I should give it a shot though, just so that I could say I knew what I was talking about. And I was in for a rather big surprise. In no time, I was out of money and had no crops to plant. I have to admit, there way more to this game than I had anticipated.

I eventually managed to dig myself out of my original hole and out of the red, but I still wasn't making all that much progress. I started to think that maybe I needed to see what these guides were all about. I wasn't really expecting much, but since I hadn't done so well on my own either, I figured it was worth a shot.

So I picked up a guide called FarmVille secrets, and was pleasantly surprised by the tips I found in it. You wouldn't think there were so many ways you could screw up a virtual farm, but believe me, you can. I was still stumbling along at level 6 when I got the guide after 2 weeks of playing regularly. Now I'm the proud owner of a plantation and a level 26 Sultan of Soil. And I still look back at my guide from time to time. If you're having trouble getting into the swing of things in FarmVille, this guide is not a bad investment.

How to Get the Most Ribbons in FarmVille

It's pretty easy to earn a few ribbons in FarmVille. As you just go about your daily tasks, you'll wind up accomplishing at least some of the early ribbon-worthy tasks. You may notice when you do win one though, that the bonuses they pay out are pretty hefty. You can actually earn a lot of money and experience points quickly if you collect as many ribbons as you can. This is relatively easy to do, but you do have to put some effort into it if you want to get as much as you can out of your FarmVille experience.

Know What You Need

You won't be able to focus your energies on earning ribbons unless you know what you need to get them. You can find this information easily enough by clicking on the ribbon icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen. This will bring up a list of all of the possible ribbons and show you how you're progressing in each category.

Pick One

You do have limited resources, particularly when you're just starting out in FarmVille. Because of this, it's a good idea to focus on one type of ribbon at a time. Of course, it's likely that whatever you do to earn those ribbons will help you to earn some other ones as well, but you can focus on those when you get to them.

Which to Pick

Before you decide which set of ribbons to go after first, you should take a few moments to learn what each ribbon category is about. This way, you'll be able to get a good sense of which ribbons to go for first. For example, the Tree Hugger ribbons require that you harvest fruit from a particular number of unique trees, meaning that to get these, you'll have to have a variety of different types of trees on your farm.

The Knock on Wood ribbons can be earned by simply harvesting any type of tree a certain number of times. This means that if you focus on earning the Tree Hugger ribbons, you'll automatically be making progress towards the Knock on Wood ribbons as well. The converse is not necessarily true because you could get the Knock on Wood ribbon for harvesting from only one kind of tree.

Get Some Neighbors

Neighbors help you get ribbons both directly and indirectly. There are ribbons for just having a certain number of neighbors, how many times you help your neighbors out, and how many different types of gifts you receive. All of these categories are easier to progress in the more neighbors you have, so don't hesitate to hit up your friends and earn some ribbons that way too.
